PAIN EDUCATION
EMPOWERMENT
This six-week course aims to empower you to treat your persistent pain. Join me in this safe space where you will learn the self-management skills necessary to manage your pain condition in a small, interactive group.
Persistent Pain Management Therapy
Assessment
I do a thorough 1,5-2-hour comprehensive assessment which includes evaluating physical, psychological and social factors related to your condition and experiences. This information is gathered via an interview, doing specific physical movements and tests, and the completion of self-reported questionnaires.
One hour feedback session:
This session is to give feedback and discuss a personalised therapy plan, including the type of treatment proposed, the number of sessions and whether a referral to any other health care practitioner is necessary. It is a collaborative goal-setting session. It is flexible and subject to change, if necessary.
Individual treatments: are between 30 and 60 minutes and will also involve being given home programs and practicing of skills discussed between sessions. Depending on the assessment, these sessions might be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
Group Based Treatments
I also run Pain Education Empowerment Courses with a minimum of 5 people (maximum of 8). This course aims to empower individuals to become successful self-managers of their condition.
Six once a week 2-hour sessions that can be held IN PERSON or ONLINE.
Each session includes group sharing, education and skills practice (goal setting, suitable physical activity and mindfulness).
